A native New Orleanian, Louise Mouton Johnson studied Fine Arts at Tulane University before transferring to Xavier University, where she received a Bachelor of Fine arts degree.
She later earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Mouton Johnson, who is married to artist Charlie Johnson, taught for over 33 years in New Orleans public schools at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), Audubon Charter School, and Eleanor McMain Secondary School before retiring in 2016.
Mouton Johnson’s work appears on album covers with Rounder Records and on the official 1990 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Poster and is held in major public and private collections.
